Prison Chapel Construction This has been a
3-year dream. We took our cement block-making machine
into the prison in September of 2002 to build blocks
for the prison chapel. It was a step of faith because
we had no money to construct a chapel but we believed
God would provide. The girls in the prison worked
really hard making the blocks. It took us three weeks
to make 3,500 blocks. Then the blocks had to be carried
up stairs and across to the other side of the prison.
God is so faithful! This year we started the construction
of the chapel. God sent the money in from many different
sources and teams came. The first teams that came
were from South Dakota and Colorado. They poured the
foundation and floor. Then teams came from Alaska
and Montana. They built the structure. Later a team
from Oregon came and put up insulation, drywall, tile
floors, doors and installed all the electrical wiring.
The girls in the prison did all the painting and many
other things. Bill has been working every free day
he has to complete the chapel. It will soon be done
and we can have a dedication service and it will be
in use. Right now we have no chapel so we meet outside
and there are lots of distractions plus it's either
hot or cold. This is so wonderful to have our own
chapel. We are so thankful and we want to thank each
and every one who helped us make this a reality.
We have a video running on the home page under our
projects. Also you can view photos of the construction
of the chapel under the heading Events in the
photo gallery. Please take a look. You can also click
on the video section of the home page to view the
video.
